Carnival Legend will be turning around in Norfolk on March 31 instead of at Baltimore, its homeport
Baltimore-based Carnival Legend will operate temporarily from Norfolk following the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge.

The bridge was rammed by a container ship after it lost power early Tuesday.

Baltimore Harbor is closed to marine traffic during rescue and remediation efforts.

Royal Caribbean looking at alternatives

Carnival Cruise Line is temporarily moving Carnival Legend’s Baltimore operations to Norfolk in nearby Virginia, while Royal Caribbean International, whose Vision of the Seas is also based at Baltimore, was working on alternatives Tuesday.

Vision of the Seas is currently on a Southern Caribbean cruise that's due back in Baltimore April 4.

Carnival Legend March 31 turnaround in Norfolk

Carnival Legend is due back March 31 and will instead go to Norfolk, where passengers will be provided free bus service to Baltimore. The ship's next seven-day cruise on March 31 will then operate from and return to Norfolk.

'Our thoughts remain with the impacted families and first responders in Baltimore,' Carnival President Christine Duffy said. 'We appreciate the pledge made by President Biden today to dedicate all available resources to reopen Baltimore Harbor to marine traffic as soon as possible. As those plans are finalized, we will update our future cruise guests on when we will return home to Baltimore, but in the meantime, we appreciate the quick response and support from officials in Norfolk.'

Wednesday update: Carnival Corp. & plc estimated impact of up to $10m on both adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income for full year 2024 due to the Baltimore change.
