The former Costa Luminosa was the first Carnival ship to sail from Brisbane when she commenced her first season in November 2022 which went through until April 2023.
She returned to Brisbane on October 15 last year for a 169-day season that ended April 1.
70,000 passengers
During her 2023/24 season Carnival Luminosa carried more than 70,000 passengers and sailed more than 42,000 nautical miles around the Queensland coast and to the South Pacific and Papua New Guinea.
The ship raised more than A$20,000 for the Queensland Children’s Hospital Foundation with its ‘Conga for Kids’ conga line dance parties on the top deck where passengers buy a special conga T-shirt for A$20.
Carnival Luminosa’s second homeporting in Brisbane contributed approximately A$30m to the Queensland economy.
Fantastic confidence
‘Carnival Luminosa called almost 30 times into Brisbane which is a fantastic show of confidence in the local cruise market,’ Port of Brisbane CEO Neil Stephens said.
‘We’ve just had our biggest summer season in Brisbane and partners like Carnival Cruise Line are central to that,’ Stephens said.
Carnival Luminosa will spend the US summer season sailing to Alaska from Seattle and will return to the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal for a third 2024/25 season in October.
The ship is also scheduled for Brisbane in the 2025/26 season.
