The Meyer Energy Management System's intuitive dashboard helps crew understand the ship’s performance with minimum training and effort
Meyer Group’s digital start-up Alfred Maritime presented an AI-based energy management system for cruise ships at Seatrade Cruise Global.

The new platform, Meyer Energy Management System, was developed by Alfred’s Internet of Things and data experts together with the Meyer Energy Efficiency Team and is set to increase the operational efficiency on ships.

Meyer Energy Management System supports ship operators and crews to understand and analyze the ship’s performance. The platform gives the crew actionable insights to optimize energy efficiency and reduce fuel consumption. Combined with accurate performance predictions and forecasts from multiple on-board systems, it helps the crew to reduce ship emissions.

'We have combined our knowledge of maritime operations and ship design with advanced AI, data modelling, machine learning and simulation models to make ships more efficient and therefore greener,' said Paul Meyer, managing director of Alfred Maritime and chief information officer, Meyer Group.

Simulation models and the accumulated real-time data from multiple on-board systems in a modern IoT platform allows for quick decisions by the crew to optimize performance while offering full data transparency for the ship operator. According to Alfred Maritime, an intuitive dashboard helps crew understand the ship’s performance with minimum training and effort.

Alfred Maritime was established in 2019. The company’s goal is to digitalize modern ships by the means of IoT and AI as well as to provide data and intelligence for greener next-generation vessels.
